Colin, you're doing better than me on bench now. For example today on bench
I did the following:

Warmup:
60kg x 10
60kg x 10

80kg x 10
100kg x 6 (almost at failure on last rep)
120kg x 3

Burnout:
60kg x 30

Guess I've lost a fair bit since twins were born. Also my TP hasn't trained
with me for 2 1/2 months due to injury. But hey congratulations mate,
excellent results!

Due to my poor chest return lately, I've decided to step chest workouts up
to twice a week, and I will follow a similar chest workout routine to Guv.
I'll try this for a month starting September and see how it goes.

Nice one dundonald,

I noticed that you did 100x6 and then went straight to 120x3, do you usually
mix the weight and reps up ie might you throw in 110x? next week? I ask
this because, Im thinking of - as I have said before - leaving out the 100kg
and just going from warmup to 110kg....I know this sounds like a big
increase, but Ive found that by applying the same kind of ethos to my
shoulder workouts I have reaped relatively good rewards (ie once I can do a
particular weight for a solid 10 reps, I move on to the next weight up as my
starting weight, for example, for my Db shoulder press, Im currently on
37kgx9, so as soon as I get that up to 10, I will start on the 40kg as my
starting weight.........

Erm....Well, erm....Right I would be doing better If I had a spotter on hand
all the time!
last friday Squats

20xbar warmup,10x60kg warmup, 10x100kg, 8x100kg,6x100kg
5x100kg, then on to leg press warmup 180kgx10 then 200kgx10, 210x7,
220x4...then calfs etc etc

I recently changed the way I was doing squats(hence the drop in weight - I
was squatting 120kg x 4 reps, but not properly) so that I now go all the
way down - as recommended by some - this has taken a while to get used to
but is definitely adding more growth and stability to my squats, and I
expect to surpass my best on squats with added confidence and the knowledge
that I am doing the hardest exercise in the gym properly.

What's the purpose of the bar warm-up? Fuck-all on squats if you ask me! Why
don't you warm up with 40kg for 10, then 70kg for 6 then hit your working
weight.

Actually Bully, I find the bar on its own a good way to get a feeling for
the movement (ie correct posture, going all the way down etc) Also try doing
the bar for 60 reps within a minute, I bet you will be out of breath :)

quickly enough you will prob be out of breath!!

Lol, Bully I know im using it as a bit of an excuse, but the saftey things
in the squat rack are NOT adjustable and im just over 6 foot, hence when
fully down to the floor there is still a good few inches between me and the
safety, any suggestions?

Yup. Keep the bar on your shoulders, not on the safeties.

I've never hit the safeties when squatting (which you wouldn't want to
anyway) but the one time I did collapse beneath the bar it landed on the
safeties as I landed on the floor. Job done.
