Hi,

A few years ago I used to buy these but nowhere seems to stock them any more.

Anybody know what happened to them......did Peak Body go out of business or stop producing them?

If so, what's the best alternative these days?

Many thanks.

Bully.... who took over proteinbars.co.uk from Daz (Darren Marshall I think)

No-one on here anymore (apart from myself and occasionally Mike
Collins), hasn't been for... must be well over 10 years. I've been on
Farcebook for 9 years and U.R.B. was dead long before that.

I just can't seem to bring myself to removing uk.rec.bodybuilding from
my usenet agent because several other groups I frequent are still very
active.

With regards to PeakBody they're still around but the supplement
industry has changed. Just looked up affordablesupplements.co.uk and
noticed they went into liquidation at the end of 2017. They started up
in 2001 so only a few years after us @ https://www.GymRatZ.co.uk
We stopped selling supplements when pretty much all manufactures decided
to compete directly with retailers and also to supply 1 particular
company that destroyed the market by selling at cost price with free
delivery and then manufacturers giving him extra discount for high
volume sales...

Enough from me though. This will be my one bi-annual post.
Got a plug in... needs must, even if we no longer sell supplements.

Cheers

Yeah, I know all about Bully and his faffing about in front of wall-to-ceiling mirrors at his gym.....but......are you selling a protein bar that doesn't contain the same protein and fat as a Snickers bar or not?

The Peak Body Mega Pro 50 protein bars tasted gross but did the job.

Nah,supplements are a dead market for independent retailers.

If I'm looking for something my first port of call would be Bulk
Powders, don't know if they do a protein bar but I always used to find
Reflex Nutrition protein bars good from both ingredients and taste.
Had some samples of their R-Bar when they were developing it a few years
back and they tasted great and had a good lick of protein.

Spooky.

The last lot of powder I bought was a 99% concentrate from BulkPowders......the stuff froths ridiculously (apparently this is a sign of a quality powder?) but maybe they are the way forward?

Never known a pure concentrate protein from main brands and don't
remember any being particularly frothy;
they were always isolate/concentrate blends.
Isolate being the more expensive ingredient so needed something cheaper
to pad it out and bring the price down I presume.

Perhaps experimenting with your own blend of concentrate and isolate
from them. Then again their isolate was IIRC very well priced but
isolate was always a bit wishy-washy so chucking some concentrate into
the mix would give it a bit more substance and "body".

So, what?

Bully is dead?

Or he was pushing bullshit?

I'm doing some research on behalf of a major national daily newspaper in the UK relating to protein supplements.....if he's punting crap then I can find out who he is and get a balanced view before publication.

Any takers (anonymity guaranteed if you prefer)?

Bwhahaaaaa.

Bully (Neil S) was but a dabbler as he took over Daz's (don't remember
2nd name) "protein bar club" which was a buying co-operative. so
everyone got to buy protein bars at trade price.
As manufacturers started bleeding sales away from genuine retailers and
giving full trade prices to every Joe who could put in an order for £100
worth of supplements the industry started to implode.

I wouldn't be suprised if the protein out there has declined in quality
over the last 5 years.
